Hosting and Standards

The website will be hosted at a Rackspace datacentre in London on one of our dedicated Linux servers

For the technically-minded, the environment is:

Linux running Apache and Red Hat Enterprise;
PHP / MySQL;
Backed every night to two separate physical locations;
Fully secured from intrusion by external parties, and hosted behind a Cisco Pix hardware firewall.

Security is something we’re very hot on: we are one of the very few web design agencies accredited to manage and host websites for HSBC – a distinction we were awarded in 2007 after six months of testing of both our technical environment and our processes.

For the non-technically minded, our hosting means that:

You don’t need to worry about security – we’ll do that for you;
You can rest assured that your website will be up and running at least 99.5% of the time, with our uptime guarantee;
Should anything go wrong (a very rare occurrence!), we can easily roll back to yesterday’s version (or an earlier one) – your site will be backed up automatically by our servers on a daily, weekly and monthly rotation in any case.

We use Rackspace to host all our clients’ websites as they can provide us (and therefore you) with outstanding levels of service and support 24 hours a day. They have been consistently voted as one of the best hosts in the UK and is the key reason why we can confidently pass on high levels of support to our clients.

Website Standards and Statistics

The ability to direct traffic to the website is obviously of paramount importance. We build websites using CSS, combining H1, H2, H3 and paragraph styles, compliant to WC3 standards, has feeds out and is constructed to have a Google site map.

You will also have access to very comprehensive and usable website statistics provided by Google Analytics. This shows information such as the number of visitors, the pages they visit, search engine phrases used to find your website etc. You can query any information by any date range, and export it to external applications or PDFs.
